About TipSplit Calc

A free, simple way to work out the tip and split the check.

TipSplit Calc started with a small, familiar problem: a group at a table, one phone out, and everyone trying to work out who owes what. The tools here do that job and nothing else.

How the numbers work

The tip is the bill times the tip percent, rounded to the nearest cent. When a total is split, each share is rounded up to the next cent so the group never comes up short, and any cents over are shown as left over. The maths is checked by automated tests against a second, separate calculation.

The tipping guide lists common ranges from published US etiquette guides. Customs vary, so treat it as a starting point.
